About MetalCraft

Metalcraft has provided property identification solutions since 1950. The company has also provided thousands of businesses and industries throughout North America and around the world a wide range of choices in durable nameplates and labels to meet the needs of the ever-evolving industry of tracking and controlling. These customized products may include consecutive numbers using barcode and/or RFID technologies. Made from the toughest materials including polyester, anodized aluminum, stainless steel, polycarbonate, ceramic and more, Metalcraft nameplates and labels are built to withstand environments ranging from mild to extreme and resist abrasion, caustics/acids, solvents, salt air, high temperatures, and UV rays.  Durable enough for the production floor, yet versatile enough for an office setting, Metacraft has been providing its customers with asset tags for their asset tracking applications since 1950. Whether you are looking for a polyester tag with printed serial numbers or a metal bar code nameplate, they have the asset tag for you. Just what makes Metalcraft’s RFID tags and labels superior to other RFID tags and labels? Durability and re-usability. They design every one of their RFID labels and RFID tags to withstand repeated usage in tough environments. Repeated usage drives down the cost per read, which in turn generates a greater ROI.  Their Asset Tags easily fit in smaller places and on assets where other tags may be too large. Developed using the same premise as their original Universal RFID Asset Tag, the smaller tag utilizes a patented inlay design and passive RFID technology to obtain incredible read ranges on a variety of different materials – metal, plastic, even wood. Customer programming matches the printed bar code information for two tracking technologies.

Use Cases

The RFID tag can be affixed to an object and used to track and manage inventory, assets, people, etc.  RFID can be used in a variety of applications such as:

  • Access management
  • Tracking of goods
  • Tracking of persons
  • Asset ID
  • Parts, files, equipment management
  • Machine readable documents
  • Tracking data to verify authenticity
  • Airport baggage tracking logistics
  • Timing events

Working exclusively with Fujitsu and a major U.S. airline, Boeing has developed, tested, and validated the airline industry’s first comprehensive radio frequency identification device (RFID) and contact memory button (CMB) technology for commercial airplanes. This system can significantly reduce an airline’s operating costs by eliminating untimely, labor-intensive maintenance while providing easy access to maintenance histories.

“We operate with less effort and fewer disruptions because RFID is automatically tracking the files as they move.”

Form Factors

Tags are available in a wide range of form factors to suit most company’s needs.  The form factor used depends on the application since tags operate at different frequencies.

Stick-On

“We had a ‘tag-off’. We set up a reader and a gate, and we gathered different tag technologies from a few providers to see what would work best for the 12 to 20-foot read range we were seeking. This was what put the tags from Metalcraft over the top. Metalcraft’s windshield tag had the best performance and appearance, and their pre-commissioned tags were really perfect for this environment.”

Screw-On/Bolt-on/Rivet-on

Etched and Filled Stainless Steel Nameplates

The most durable of all attachment systems when connected with an appropriate fastener material.  Typically, these tags are difficult to install as drilling the hole is usually considered low-energy hot-work in hazardous environments .

Hang-On

One of the easiest tags to use. It can be fastened to conduits, equipment, etc. when used with the right attachment, it is possible to get long lives similar to the use of bolted tags.

As part of a larger effort initiated by Volkswagen de México in order to improve its spare parts distribution process, cardboard boxes used for shipping spare parts to dealers are being replaced with reusable plastic containers fitted with RFID tags. The application has enabled the Puebla plant to lower its yearly expenses associated with parts distribution by 30 percent, through reduced packaging costs and an automated shipment-verification process, according to Juan Manuel Rodríguez Flores, sales manager of Grupo Hasar, the RFID systems integrator that deployed the solution for the plant.

Fold/Long-range

Identifying your location is just as important as identifying your items! Long-range labels on hanging placards help your warehouse remain productive with easy-to-read organization. Metalcraft’s placards use our retro-reflective labels for applications that are out of reach of normal scanners. Manufactured with a special material, it allows the infrared beam of a scanner to be returned to the scanner at greater strength, letting your operator scan from up to 35 feet away. These labels are ideal for large warehouses, distribution centers or manufacturing facilities.

Two-Part

Tag your assets with the label, then remove the tab with matching ID number to attach to your records. The separate tab simplifies record keeping and reduces the risk of handwritten paperwork errors. Labels with matching ID numbers are provided together on one roll for increased convenience and fewer mistakes.

The durable construction of .002″ thick polyester and .001″ clear laminate creates a UL approved product, adding another benefit to this convenient solution

Cable-Labels

Make it easy on yourself with easy-to-mark, easy-to-track Bar Code Cable Labels from Metalcraft. This product simplifies the task of marking cables, hoses, tubing, etc., by providing subsurface printing on one end with the clear part of the label wrapping around the pre-imaged information to provide additional protection. The propylene construction allows the label to conform to a tight radius without unwinding. The .002″ thick adhesive provides excellent adhesion to hard-to-adhere-to plastic surfaces.

Tamper-Evidence

Discourage theft and keep your property in tact with Metalcraft’s Tamper-Evident Labels. If someone attempts to remove the label, the word “VOID” is left behind on the surface of the asset and the back of the label. Add a bar code and/or human readable number to the label and use it as part of an overall asset tracking system. Digital printing ensures even the most detailed logo will look crisp and clean while subsurface printing protects the logos, copy and bar code against solvents, caustics and mild abrasion.

Harsh-Environment

Designed for a variety of applications, the versatile polyester label is pliable enough to conform to curved surfaces and durable enough to resist caustics, solvents and mild abrasion. Subsurface printing protects the logos, copy and bar code against solvents, caustics, acids and mild abrasion. Digital printing ensures even the most detailed logo will look crisp and clean while the standard adhesive provides excellent adhesion to uneven or slightly oily surfaces.

Paint-Resistant

These unique labels feature a special fluoropolymer laminate very similar to Teflon® coating in that it resists multiple paint applications (approximately 10-12), grease, even graffiti, and can withstand temperatures up to 250°F. After painting, customers simply pick off the paint and are left with a clean, easy-to-scan polyester bar code label. Subsurface printing protects the logos, copy and bar code against extreme solvents, caustics, acids and moderate abrasion.
